FS2002 - Gotha G-I Ursinus Wasserdoppeldecker
---------------------------------------------
Stephan Scholz - November 2002
Installation:
-------------
Unzip into and place the folder "Gotha G1 UWD" into the Aircraft directory. Move the Gauges into the Gauges directory.

The Virtual Gotha G-I Ursinus model:
------------------------------------

The colour scheme has been made as close as possible to the real plane.
thanks to the colour pictures supplied by FSAviator.

It appears that only this seaplane version had a windshield, and that the pilot´s cabin was in the rear, and not in the middle.

Realistic FS2002 Flight Dynamics by FSAviator:
----------------------------------------------
One of the characteristics of this plane was the low-revved, Mercedes D.III engine, and the engine parameters have had to be accurately entered into the Aircraft.cfg file so that FS2002 will accept them without FSEdit overwriting them with the default values, which would render the FDE useless. A back-up of the FDE is also supplied, just in case.

This plane was throttle-trimmed, and this is accurately emmulated. It will take-off by itself under full throttle, and climb. Throttle back a little for horizontal flight.

You can also emulate flying an empty plane (drop the bombs), and experience the difference in behaviour flying the plane with no payload. Details are given in the enclosed How2dropbombs.txt file.

Note:
In those days these planes had no flaps, wheel-steering, spoilers or brakes... They had manual-mixture control, so disable the auto-mixture option in FS2002. Also, they didn´t have any elevator trim either, for they were throttle-trimmed.

IMPORTANT:
-----------
DO NOT edit the Aircraft.cfg file with FSEDit, as this will render the flight dynamics useless with FS2002 default power parameters. Use Notepad, for example.

This model is imported from FS98, and FSEdit makes poor conversions of models with such low RPM values as this one. Hence it has been necessary to re-edit the .air file and re-write the Aircraft.cfg file, so that FS2002 will accept it without changing anything with FSEdit.

Sounds included:
----------------
Vickers Vimy sounds by Mike Hambly. Sound.cfg file to adapt these sounds to this model´s low RPM vaules, by Christoph Ruhtenberg.

Panel included:
---------------
Panel made with parts of the Gotha G.V flight deck from an original photograph.
In those days, cockpits were sparsely instrumented, normally having no more than RPM and fuel gauges for the engines, temperature gauge, a compass, airspeed indicator and altimeter for navigation, and some kind of bank/turn indicator.
Gauges mostly by Bastian Hundt and Horst Weingärtner.
The CFS fuel selector is to be toggled to initialize the bogus tank, which contains the bomb weight, so that you can experience flying this plane without payload by emptying the bogus tank. Please read "How2dropbombs.txt"

Animation by Aircraft Animator - Props, ailerons, elevator and rudders.
